“Introduction to International Contracts for Beginners of Corporate Secretarial Services Introductory Course to Learn English Contracts! How to Learn and Practice International Contracts ”

Westlaw Japan K.K. (Minato Ward, President and Representative Director: Young Sun Bang) will hold an online seminar with the Japanese Institute of International Business Law, Inc. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, titled “Introduction to International Contracts for Beginners of Corporate Secretarial Services ― Introductory Course to Learn English Contracts! How to Learn and Practice International Contracts.”

This seminar is our Introductory Course on international contracts based on the know-how of the Japanese Institute of International Business Law (IBL). The IBL Business Law School is the only institution in Japan that offers training for lawyers who specialize in corporate secretarial services.
The main aim of this seminar is to help you gain the common knowledge (not necessarily legal knowledge) required when reading or drafting English contracts in legal departments that provide corporate secretarial services.

Susumu Hirano

Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Global Informatics (iTL), Chuo University (Policy Studies), Admitted in New York
Graduated from the Department of Laws, Faculty of Laws, Chuo University in 1984. Joined Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. in the same year and engaged in legal affairs. Studied at Cornell University Graduate School (Cornell Law School) while working for the company and obtained an LL.M. in 1990. Took and passed the New York State bar exam in the same year. Special Student at the Cornell University Graduate School in 1991 (Associate for the Cornell International Law Journal). Worked in the Legal Department of NTT International Corporation from 1995 and served as the General Counsel of the Legal Department of NTT DoCoMo, Inc. from 2000. Professor at ChuoUniversity from 2004. Obtained his Doctorate Degree in 2007 (Policy Studies, Chuo University). Dean of the Graduate School of Policy Studies, Chuo University Graduate School, from 2013 to 2019. In his current position from April 2019 (first Dean of iTL). Studied under the late Professor James A. Henderson Jr., a world authority on product liability, since studying at Cornell Law School. Robot Policy Study Group, METI (2005 – 2006), Co-Representative of Japan, OECD Expert Group on AI (2018 – 2019), Council for Social Principles of Human-centric AI, Cabinet Office, and various government committees. Currently the Vice-Chair of The Conference toward AI Network Society and the Chair of the AI Governance Conference, Ministry of Internal Affairs & Communications,
